Soccer

Sophia started playing soccer this year. Once week, Coach Papa would wrangle the 8, three year olds and attempt to teach them a little bit of soccer. The weather was usually crummy, as in there were two decent days, one of which was the last night. We had rain, snow, wind and finally sun. The kids were troopers and seemed to quite enjoy themselves.

The easiest way to get them to listen and be still was to have them sit on a ball. I must give Max credit as it is not easy to keep these guys occupied for 45 minutes. Sophia, #2, running to score a goal. She really improved over the couple of months that she played. She wasn't as afraid of the ball and she would do her best to stop it from going out of bounds. When it came time to get the ball from somebody else, she was still tentative but she didn't run away from it. The highlight of soccer for all the kids was the snack. Some days they would just get on the field and then start asking when it was time for snack. At the end of the game, each player was awarded a medal for participating this year. Thanks to our Team Manager, we had a little pedestal ready for them. Sophia lucked out and had Evan on her team. It was fun for the two of them to play together... Waiting patiently for Coach Max to give out the medals... Finally. She wore that thing the whole night, including out for sushi to celebrate! The kids Coaches, Max and Megan.

Sophia and Evan. They were both so excited to have their medals.
I think it was a really great thing that Max was the coach. It gave Sophia some time with Papa and it maybe gave him a better appreciation for dealing with kids.
The Sauder's, who now number 4!!! Nadine and Stephen had a baby girl, Megan today!!! Congratulation guys, we can't wait to meet her:)
