Do You Ever Wonder...

...if there really is a higher power? Last Tuesday as we were all sitting at my Grandpa's Memorial we all saw (or heard) proof...The weather that day was intense. The sky to the west was black and I found out afterwards that there was also a really amazing lightning show. It was like a black blanket that surrounded us. Part way through the ceremony, the pastor was talking about my Grandpa and about how he once got rained out and stranded, literally, at his old farm in Valleyview. No sooner had this been said then a loud boom of thunder shook the room. With all of that black sky, that was the only thunder that we heard the entire day...

Also, the grand kids all got up to give a little tribute to Grandpa. It was nice and really heartfelt but hard to do. As we were walking back to our seats, Sophia started to snap and cluck her tongue for us. These were two things that my Grandpa always did for her and Sadie. I don't know if she heard Lindsay talk about the snapping (she really wasn't paying too much attention as she was too into eating her snacks) but the timing was really something. It brought a smile to mine and Lindsay's faces throughout our tears. It's hard knowing we won't hear Grandpa do that again but still it is nice to know that he lives on, in all of us.

Thank goodness for children because they always know how to cheer everyone up. After the memorial, we were in the next room having some refreshments when Sophia decided she wanted to play Ring Around the Rosie. Ironically this was something that my Grandpa did with her just a few months ago (and yes, he fell all the way down). Sophia grabbed my cousins and Max and got them going. Not really an easy game to play when you are all dressed up in a suit!!
