Our Cabin

Well, we did it, we weren't planning to do, but we did. We have bought a cabin. It is at Gull Lake and only about 1 hour 40 min door to door. The funniest part about the location is that my grandparents had a farm about 30 minutes away and my family grew up spending weekends there! It will be so much fun to be back in the area...

I guess we should use the term 'cabin' loosely. It is rustic inside but has most of the amenities that a house would. It is cozy and clean, the lot is nicely treed and it is very close to, but not on the lake. Sophia immediately fell in love when we took her to visit it. She got out of the car and ran from the door to the edge of the yard and back too many times to count.

It looks fairly small from the outside but just wait...

The concrete 'statue' in front of Vasily is a pizza oven. I look forward to trying that out on a nice summer's eve.

There are two decks. One upper, uncovered one and a lower, covered one. As the back of the house faces west, the decks will get the end of day sun and will be a cozy spot to curl up and read a book (if Sophia will let us).

Looking out over the back yard. There is a fire pit and a double garage, and it will look even better once the leaves come in. The lake is about a 200 yard walk from the garage. I prefer that, that way I don't have to worry about Sophia taking off and running off the dock and right into the water (she's at the stage where she likes to take off on me).

This lower deck will be a good place to hang out during those nasty storms that this area tends to get.

Inside there are three bedrooms (one on the upper level and two on the lower level), a bathroom, laundry room, back door mud room, kitchen, dining room and loft with a fire stove. This is the loft which overlooks the kitchen and dining room. It is so comfortable you can't help but relax.

The kitchen was recently upgraded with maple cabinets, gas stove and a dishwasher (one of the perks about this place versus others). We take possession mid-June and can't wait to spend our weekends up there. Just to note, we are always up for visitors...
