We are currently at Denis' house in Aksakovo, just north of Moscow. We had another great day, enjoying the weather and one of Max's favorites shashlik (skewered or bar-b-q meat). Today we had some lamb and sea bass and was it ever tasty!
We are located at the 'A.' I am not sure if you can zoom out on the map or not, but Moscow is about 25 km to the south of here. It should take you about 15 minutes to the edge of the city but can take upwards of 45 mins depending on the day and traffic (really, we have little to complain about in Calgary when it comes to traffic).
Our chef, in his shashlik attire, getting the grill ready for the marinated lamb (I think it was only marinated in lemon, onion, salt and pepper).
The table, outside, all nice and neat before 9 of us descended on it.
One of the things I like the best is the fresh herbs that are always plentiful here, particularly dill. It is so fragrant, without being too overwhelming and adds so much to any meal. We are constantly snacking on it, even Sophia!
Sophia and her Dada Vasa. She only took a couple of minutes to warm up to him this trip and even ran to give him a great big hug before she went to bed.
While the rest of us were partaking in our second round of shashlik, Sophia and Dada Vasa were inside watching tennis. Sophia thought it was nap time so she buried Vasiliy underneath as many stuffed animals as she could and then took his picture. Not too bad, for a 4 year old!
