Last weekend was our long weekend. Sophia, Sadie and I headed out to the cabin Thursday afternoon, Lin and Casey came out later that night and then the two guys came Friday. We even had our neighbors from home stop by on their way back from Edmonton so we had one full house.
The weather was perfect, short of the many mosquitos and we were able to get our garden planted and lots of yard works done. One of the best parts about the weekend was that our neighbors had their granddaughters out, the oldest (Teagan) was the same age as Sophia and the younger one (Devon) was a year younger than Sadie. The four girls played so amazingly well together, the entire weekend! They took turns going from our yard and house to theirs and back. Sophia and Sadie also managed to get dinner and lots of snacks from them while we offered a hot tub and quad rides! They were all so occupied that we only really had Casey to look after and he was more than content to play in the dirt and the grass by himself. All that free time allowed the adults to garden, tidy the yard, clean out the shed and build the frame for a woodshed. In the three years we have had this place, doing that much would have taken us the entire summer so getting all done now was awesome! Now to have someone tend to the garden while we are in Russia for 6 weeks...
Max laughed at this point as apparently our tub is a 6 man but will easily fit 8. The kids loved having this there and it was quite peaceful for the adults too, especially when the kids were asleep and quiet.
Devon was such a cutie! She hardly said anything to any of us unless she wanted out of the tub:)
If you can see all the bites on Casey's head, yes they are mosquito bites. He probably had around 50 on his head alone! They started off ok but then some of them, especially at the back of his head, got quite lumpy and swollen. We ended up giving him some Benadryl one night which helped a little bit. Poor guy...
Sunday, Marcus, Carla and the kids stopped by on their way home from Edmonton. The kids all had a blast together in the tub and then on the quad. Thankfully Marcus took some awesome shots of Sophia posing in the tub...
Casey got quite into the quad. By the end of the trip, he know how to start the thing and was always up for going for a ride, if he got to sit in the front.
Off and running. I'm not sure if Tyson or the kids enjoyed this the most?
To get out of our yard, especially with 4 vehicles lined up, the quad has to go down to the garden and then back up to the road and under some trees. It was like an obstacle course for the kids and they all squealed with delight each time. In fact, you could hear the kids before you could hear the quad when they were returning:)

One more short little video. Casey really seemed to get himself into many things, dirt, water, puddles, the garden, anything really. One of the afternoons, he followed the girls as they climbed up the rock wall (he did it completely unassisted) and helped himself to their snack of potato chips. We noticed that the girls kept moving locations trying to get away from Casey. When I went to rescue the neighbors from watching him as all the girls had made their way back to our place, I realized why they kept leaving him. He would take a large handful of chips, leaving them with very little and dropping most of his on the ground as he tried to shove them in his mouth. Just watch, he knows how to get something if he wants it:)
